Today I'm in NY city visiting family for the week. I was able to make it to my teacher, Gurunam's class tonight at my yoga studio here in the city, my home away from home, this is where I study Naam Yoga, a merging of Kundalini yoga traditions from the East with the esoteric spiritual teachings of Universal Kabbalah. As we began our class today Gurunam spoke with us about the power of prayer and the word, how we can either choose to use our words to heal and uplift the lives of others or to destroy, either way it will become part of our karma. We listened as he told us that the most powerful thing that we can do for the people and the land of Haiti is to pray for them in any time and any way that we can. As a group of about 70 students we began to pray together for the people of Haiti with the universal healing mantra, Ra Ma Da Sa, and our hands in prayer mudra. RaMaDaSa is the universal healing mantra and can be used to send healing to others at a distance and at the same time heal and uplift ourselves and our own immediate communities, because we are all essentially one an connected by one divine essence. He said about prayer mudra that "it is one of the most simple, yet most powerful mudras that we can use" the power lies in in's simplicity.
He went on to speak about how we need to learn how to live with an open heart so that we can think with our hearts and feel with our brains. Yogis call our brain the command center because it is seen to be the most powerful force for manifestation within us, so we need to learn how to control our thoughts and words that we speak otherwise all of the praying and meditations in the world will not work for use. As he has taught before, we need to think, speak, feel, and act right to create happiness in our lives. These are trying times that we are upon and between now and 2012 we will need to rely more than ever on our ability to act in ways that are positive and not to react to things that are going on in the world. Any situation that is difficult can be changed to God if you just simply see the God in everything and in everyone.
If you want to participate in raising the collective conscious and healing of our world you can learn the Ra Ma Da Sa Mantra at www.yogahealthandhealing.com
